FAQs for RV and Boat detailing

Email us at info@seaandrvmobiledetailing.com to ask any questions not listed below.

As long as we have access to a water spigot, and a power outlet that can handle an output of 750 watts., we can do RV and Boat detailing anywhere.

No, we can do boat detailing right at your slip. In some cases, we may ask that you turn your boat around so we can work on both sides.

Yes, we clean canvas tops. For canvas tops with no mildew, a mild boat soap is usually all that is needed. Sometimes, we will use a vinyl safe canvas cleaner and soft bristle brush if your canvas has not been cleaned in awhile. If you have vinyl windows that are lightly scratched or cloudy, we do have a product that may help give it a clearer look as well.

Boats & RV's left in the elements will become oxidized over time. A oxidized gelcoat will look faded, and feel chalky to the touch. Gelcoat care is critical to ensuring your vessels shine lasts.

The prices vary depending on the condition, location, and complexity of the job. For example, if a boat has been maintained poorly during the winter, it is going to take a much longer time to clean. A boat that is moored in a marina takes more time and effort to clean than a boat that is dry-docked or on a trailer.

After discussing the size and condition of the Boat or RV we will give you an estimate over the phone. Once we are onsite and can better evaluate the vessel we will finalize the cost. We provide Service Agreements with the service and price to ensure all parties are 'on the same page' before we start the work.

Boats, RVs and automobiles all have different needs and respond differently to products. We keep a variety of top rated brands on hand to meet any need. After the initial wash, we will test out a small area of the gelcoat, clear coat, or paint to ensure we are using the best product for the need.

We will gladly share a list of the products we used on your boat, RV or car when we are done.

Coming soon - we will have a list of products we use regularly so you can buy them too.

Yes, it is required to make an appointment for detailing services since we are mobile and meet you at your driveway, storage lot or dock slip.

Sea & RV Mobile Detailing can detail any type of vehicle, including cars, trucks, SUVs, boats, and motorcycles. We specialize bringing the life back to the gelcoat of boats and RVs.

We stay as long as it takes. Vehicles, depending on size and condition, average 3-4 hours. Boats and RVs take much longer. You can expect anywhere upwards of 5+ hours depending on the size, condition and techniques needed to finish the job.

Don't worry, we value the finished product over how long it takes.

In most cases, yes. We enjoy a good challenge and 'beating the stain'. We have been very successful removing stains and if we think there is a reason why it won't come out we will talk to you about it.

Yes, we use polishers in our detailing service. We have been successfully buffing Boats, RVs and Vehicles for 10+ years and do not leave burning or swirling damage on your finish.

Gelcoat restoration is the process of reviving and repairing the outer layer of a boat or RV’s fiberglass surface — known as the gelcoat — which can become dull, chalky, or oxidized over time due to sun exposure, saltwater, and weather. Restoration involves removing surface oxidation, polishing to restore shine, and applying protective sealants or wax to bring back a smooth, glossy, like-new finish.

It’s more than just cleaning — it’s a deep renewal process that enhances appearance, protects the surface from future damage, and extends the lifespan of your RV or vessel’s exterior.

At Sea and RV Mobile Detailing, we specialize in mobile gelcoat restoration services in Seattle, Bellevue, Tacoma, Everett, and surrounding areas. Using professional-grade compounds and polishing techniques, we remove oxidation, restore depth and color, and protect the surface with a marine-grade wax. The result? A glossy, durable finish that protects your investment and boosts resale value.

Maintaining your boat or RV’s exterior requires both polish and Wax to keep the gelcoat looking vibrant and protected. These two products serve different but complementary purposes in preserving the finish.

What is Polish?

Polish is a surface preparation product designed to clean and restore the gelcoat by filling microscopic pores and removing oxidation, minor scratches, and stains. It smooths the surface, enhances gloss, and prepares the gelcoat for waxing. Polishing restores the “like-new” shine by leveling out imperfections and can be applied by hand or machine. It does not provide long-term protection but is essential for surface correction and shine enhancement.

What is Wax?

Wax is applied after polishing to seal and protect the gelcoat surface. It forms a durable barrier against UV rays, dirt, bugs, grime, and weather elements. Many waxes contain UV inhibitors to prevent fading and deterioration of the gelcoat. Waxing enhances gloss, water beading, and helps maintain the finish for months or even years depending on the product used. Unlike polish, wax provides the protective layer that shields your vehicles exterior from environmental damage. Why use Both?

  • Polish first to clean, restore, and smooth the gelcoat.
  • Wax second to protect the polished surface and extend the life of the finish.
  • This two-step process ensures maximum gloss, durability, and protection for your RV’s gelcoat.

Benefits of Wax & Polish

  • Restores and maintains a glossy, smooth gelcoat finish.
  • Protects against UV damage, oxidation, and environmental contaminants.
  • Enhances water beading and reduces dirt adherence.
  • Prolongs the lifespan and resale value of your RV.
